Electronic Pathology

Med+DBase is setup with a fully integrated pathology system. Request forms can be raised either at any time against a patient record or during an appointment. If the appointment specifies tests, i.e. a WellMan health screen may include a profile blood test, the lab form will pre-populate with any tests required. Extra tests can be ordered and added to the list via the Med+DBase service picker. The Lab Request form is automatically created by Med+DBase and contains all the patient information required, including a unique bar code that ensures complete accuracy when processing the tests.

When tests are requested, the labs automatically send the results back to the central Med+DBase servers. The test results are then posted directly back to the patient record and an alert can be triggered to inform the admin team or the requesting doctor. Email alerts can also be setup to send to the admin team and/or doctor when results are received.

Med+DBase will highlight any abnormal test results to the user reviewing the results and allow repeat test results to be graphed over time, giving the clinical a visual record as well as data regarding patient test results.

Advanced configuration also allows you to customise the type of alerts received and define who receives critical alerts.

All numerical results received from the lab are extracted from the results and inserted in numerical form into the patient record allowing clinicians to chart against values provided by the lab.

Pathology Billing

MEL (Med+DBase Electronic Labs) is completely integrated with the Med+DBase billing system. This allows you to setup test prices and specific tariffs which can then be assigned to patient groups, employment companies or insurances companies.

When a doctor requests a test, a billing item relating to the test or tests requested is added to the patient or company’s account automatically, removing the possibility of requested tests not matching an invoice or allocated to an incorrect account.
