“I have worked with Med+DBase at Lyn Fry for two years, although I also used the system at my previous post with a large occupational health company. Prior to using Med+DBase, Lyn Fry Associates managed its 8-strong team using Microsoft Outlook but realised that the practice required a system that could link patient data and appointments easily without compromising data protection regulations.
The main advantage of Med+DBase for the team here is that the system makes the booking process quicker and allows accurate details to be collated for easy reference.
We use Med+DBase quite heavily during the day to carry out a wide variety of tasks such as checking the schedules, booking appointments, adding client details, uploading reports and documents from outside sources, processing accounts and compiling reports for management review.
All of our psychologists work with us part time, so Med+DBase is great as it allows them to view their schedule anywhere at any time. This means that they can be up to date with their schedule, client details and all other information from home.
As all the information is constantly available for clinical staff to check directly, they can arrive at the office fully prepared for their appointments which greatly reduces the amount of time that admin staff take to communicate with them - clinical staff are not calling the office every day to check on details.
I would never want to go back to a paper based system – Med+DBase is great as records never get lost, they are always available to access and all the information is at your fingertips any time of day. As long as you have good internet access you will find the system completely accessible.
For psychologists in particular, and any doctor who wants to preserve the Professional/Patient relationship, without a computer coming between them and the patient, I feel this system has particular benefits.
The relationship with the patient is vital, and our staff have a lot of face to face time with their clients but these sessions always need to be documented. The traditional psychologist always has their pen and paper in hand to record their information. Using Med+DBase, the easy recall and uploading of scanned documents means that psychologists can keep their notes to pen and paper if they so wish and administrators have no need to worry about piles of filing as the documents are easily scanned and stored on the Med+DBase.
In the years that I have been using Med+DBase the system has improved and become even easier to use. The introduction of the ‘search tool’ on the start page is my favourite addition to the programme. It really does provide speedy access to patient information.
Also the ability to view more than one window at a time is a great asset to administrators who are used to multi tasking and having to check several items at once.
Of course we had concerns before using a web-enabled system, such as the security features, and ease of use but the dedicated support service really helps us to run Med+DBase smoothly and remove any concerns.
Would I recommend Med+DBase to fellow doctors and practice staff? Absolutely. It is a fast, safe and easy way to organise and administer any practice.”
