"The clinic has been using Med+DBase since April 2008 and prior to that used paper records. We chose Med+DBase because paper storage was becoming too cumbersome and expensive, and the Care Quality Commission required us to have all patient paper records stored in a fire proof storage unit.
Med+DBase fulfilled the criteria for confidential patient record keeping required by the Care Quality Commission and being an online system allowed access to patient information from home meaning notes could be written up in more unhurried fashion.
Having worked in the NHS with large, untidy, cumbersome and badly written paper patient notes, I am really appreciating how beneficial an electronic practice management system such as Med+DBase is and it is worth every penny.
The Med+DBase system is very straightforward to use and the learning curve is not steep. The reception staff find it very easy to use for booking and managing patient appointments and the SMS feature is a huge bonus for confirming/reminding of appointments and other messages.
The record keeping side of the system allows the doctor to categorise treatments and keep them separately and in chronological order making each treatment session very easy to document in an ordered way. The system allows the user to very easily track how many of a particular treatment have been done in a specific time period and the income from that treatment.
On an average day we begin by logging into Med+DBase, go to the quick link to schedule for the day, print it out, go in to documents for the first patient to familiarise ourselves with past treatments, then treat the patient, use the system to make their next appointment, record payment, document treatment when the patient has left, then move onto the next patient. I do a wide range of treatments and it allows me to record them all separately in an ordered way which is easy to access.
Would I ever want to go back to having a server based system or paper based system? No, I wouldn’t! I would definitely recommend Med+DBase - I thought it might be technically difficult to master and understand but this was not the case at all.
There is fantastic support - the Med+DBase support team is excellent; there is a very knowledgeable team at the base camp and on the rare occasions I need it I have been offered help out of hours too.
My only limitation is that I don’t think I am using all the system’s features and look forward to more training on the latest upgrades."
